At Galicia Alive we are collaborating, in parallel with the dissemination of Galician culture and a vision of the world from this perspective, in various projects. One of these projects is “My garden is yours“. This business project tries to value abandoned land and increase green spaces in towns and cities. But… what is really “My garden is your “?
“ My garden is yours ” is a business project about creating a communication channel between people who They have an unattended space where it could be cultivated in an ecological way and those who wish to carry out this activity. In this way, the lands of disused rural areas could be revitalized and green areas in urban areas could be improved.
What does “My garden is yours” aim to achieve?
“My garden is yours” aims to help anyone make the most of an unused space. On the other hand, he wants a person in need of this space to be able to use it in an ecological way. With this, “My garden is yours” aims to achieve the following objectives:
- Promote organic agriculture, self-consumption and local consumption
- Improve the quality of life of people and increase their motivation, since growing plants helps to improve mood
- Greener cities and with less pollution as green spaces increase
- Revitalizing the rural world with the rental of spaces
- Reduce the risk of fire by better maintaining unused spaces
- Activation of the economy through rental transactions
- During the pandemic, more social distance in large markets with a nearby garden
- Reduce hunger in low-income families
How to get it?
By navigating to the “My garden is yours” website, by clicking here, you can register as a tenant or owner. This is the beginning of the Green Revolution, of “My garden is yours“. The more people who are part of the “revolution”, the more possible it will be to promote organic agriculture, increase green areas of cities and revitalize rural areas and thus prevent the abandonment of these lands reducing the probability of fire spreading.
The rental spaces are very diverse: private and public spaces, terraces in buildings and undeveloped land in cities and towns that can be rented to create organic gardens. Furthermore, many studies show that growing plants helps to lead a more relaxed life, gaining health and quality of life. Even physical activity is increased.
Speaking of health, one cannot forget about COVID-19. With self-consumption, the crowds in the markets and supermarkets are reduced. In addition to improving the habits and health of society, it can be a palliative for a possible crisis that causes hunger problems in many families. Increased self-consumption means that many people can obtain food at a very low cost.
Why do you want to get it?
One of the reasons they want to achieve this is to be prepared for possible cases of poverty and hunger (in the hope that they won’t happen). That way, if many people lose their jobs, they would have places where they can plant their own food cheaply. They also work to make people feel productive while unemployed, keeping their spirits up. Even while keeping work, people can have a better quality of life through the physical activity and well-being that cultivation represents per se. Because you can also activate the economy by renting those spaces. They want to get it because the cities and towns will be green and less polluted.
What does the project need to move forward?
What “ My garden is yours ” needs is to make itself known so that more people can help each other and, with it, society itself. It takes more people who are willing to leave their spaces to make finding a tenant easier.
So if you want to make the world a better place, go to “ My garden is yours “.
